Simen Amundrud

Simen Amundrud (born March 17, 1998) works as a drummer, producer, songwriter, and educator. He holds a bachelor's degree in jazz drumming from the University of Stavanger and is a highly versatile musician with expertise in a wide range of genres. During his studies, he explored the American jazz tradition and developed a special fascination for the Brazilian musical heritage, which he studied closely with the help of Brazilian musicians such as Silas Gomes and Jordi Amorim. Parallel to his studies, he worked as a session musician for various pop and rock artists.

FOCUS

As a studio drummer, Simen's focus is always on the overall musical picture. It is important for him to add something that elevates the music and gives it energy and direction. During a recording session, he works meticulously to find the right sound and playing style on the drums to ensure it matches well with the rest of the soundscape. He also has experience as a songwriter and arranger and can contribute as a producer if desired. He can also offer arrangements for brass or strings.

As a studio drummer, Simen has worked with a variety of artists such as Poor Bambi, Lotte Lee, RØSK, Frank Tore, Theodor Lucero, Marita Stølsmark, Christina Flood, JMP, Omega Collective, Silas Gomes, Simon Eismann & The Bachmessengers, Atul Giri, Vidar Kenneth Johansen, and others. As a live drummer, Simen has worked with artists such as Stavangerkameratene, Poor Bambi, Samuel Nimoson Jr, Eirik Zakariassen, Bjergsted Jazzensemble, RØSK, Bråtuqezz, and others.
